The
Lumera Phototherapy System is the most
innovative system for the treatment of scalp psoriasis.
It offers the benefit of safe and effective UVB
phototherapy to areas of the body that are covered with
hair and where conventional phototherapy is very hard to
apply.
The dev ice has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA
for the treatment of psoriasis, vitiligo, atopic
dermatitis (eczema), seborrheic dermatitis (dandruff),
and leucoderma (stretch marks).
Our patented Lumera Brush delivers UVB light
directly to the scalp, providing optimal therapy to
affected areas while reducing exposure to face, ears,
and neck. The System, with the Lumera Beam attachment, can apply
targeted treatment to any body surface, with minimal
exposure to unaffected skin.

Lumera UV-B Light Source
|
|
|
The Lumera Light Source emits the therapeutic UVB
light that powers the Lumera Brush and the Lumera Beam.
Advanced optical technology filters the energy generated by a
proprietary UVB
enhanced lamp and emits light in the therapeutic UVB band (290 to 320
nanometers). A light guide is used to transmit the light
to the LiteBrush™ and SpotLite™. A Timer and an Output
Level Knob control the energy dose delivered. The UVB
Light Source has a START/STOP Switch for activation of
the light beam. Activation can also be controlled
remotely with a Foot Switch.
A Light Guide is a flexible light conduit
that offers easy and flexible handling of the delivery
handpieces.

Lumera
Brush
|
|
|
The Lumera Brush has been designed to
deliver UVB light energy to the scalp. Hair (that in
most cases covers the scalp) absorbs light and acts as a
barrier to phototherapy provided by conventional
methods. The Lumera Brush allows delivery of light
directly onto the scalp, bypassing the hair barrier. The
light is conducted to the scalp through the hair by
optical fibers arranged in the pattern of a hairbrush.
The optical fiber array produces a 20X50 mm (0.8X2.0
inches) light
emitting profile. The Fiberoptic Bristles guide the
light between the hair and the Fiberoptic Tips spread
the light over and around the contact point delivering
it directly onto affected skin.

Lumera
Beam
|
|
|
The Lumera Beam provides localized treatment
of skin lesions when the affected skin is not covered
with hair. Its output profile allows delivery of
phototherapy in small areas that can be placed next to
each other, and spares the border areas from double
exposure. A set of output patterns optimize delivery for
the shape of the affected area. Its lightweight and compact design makes
handling easy and comfortable. The maximum spot size of the
Lumera Beam has an area of 3 square centimeters.

UV-block Goggles are included with each Lumera System for eye protection. Ultraviolet
radiation is harmful to the eyes and eye protection is
necessary during treatment (every person present in
the treatment room must wear UV-block Goggles while the
Lumera System is activated, whether for calibration,
radiometric testing or treatment). Additional goggles can be
ordered from Lerner Medical by contacting sales or
customer service departments.
The protective eyewear provided with wrap-around shields
meets the ANSI Z87.1-2003 standard and blocks 99.9% of
UVB wavelengths 180-380 nm. If other eyewear is used, it
must meet the same standard.
The Lumera Meter measures UVB output for calculation of
treatment times. |
